Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners groups.

Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
