PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.
The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 separate times.
The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.
The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.
However, Marseille fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.
In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.
In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.
Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
